Community

Prodigal Pottery: Our pottery is handmade by women fleeing homelessness, domestic abuse and sex-trafficking. This community's leaders work to employ, equip and empower women at risk in the name of Jesus.

Their work location is a women's shelter. They employ women from the shelter who are fleeing homelessness and domestic abuse. This shelter is a long term shelter offering safety and care for women + children for up to 2 years. In addition to these women they also employ women from a safe house for women fleeing sex-trafficking.

Prodigal Pottery offers employment to women who otherwise may not find employment. Many of the women they serve have felonies on their records, have open court cases, or emotional trauma that prevents them from holding down a regular job, keeping them in the cycle of chronic homelessness. This community does not turn any woman away based on her past, but employs these women to help them take hold of their future.

They work to equip the women they employ with skills needed to succeed outside the safety and protection of the shelter. The staff provides financial training, emotional care and support, professional skill training, and assistance finding stable living situations and transportation when they are preparing to graduate. Helping transition the women out of chronic homelessness into stability is a foundation of the program.

They work daily to empower the women they serve through dignified work where they know they are valued, loved, and supported. Their greatest desire for the women is that they will walk out the doors of the shelter every day knowing they are strong, capable and loved, and that the Lord has a powerful and important plan for their life.
